They're beautiful aren't they? Big, piercing, green, and full of love.
I'm a big love bug. I'm not a lap cat, but I just love to rub against people and approach them for attention. My skinny little tail starts twitching, my back arches to reach your hand faster for pets and I just purr. I don't care who the person is, just give me attention!
I was brought to Paws with a bunch of other cats. We were all rescues, but our rescuer was evicted and luckily Paws was able to take us in. All the others have been adopted, but I'm still here. I think it's because I have a sensitive stomach and get stressed from all the activity here at the shelter (You try taking an afternoon nap with dogs barking and phones ringing). I'm on special food right now, but it might not be necessary if I were in a home that I could call my own.
I'd really like to be an only cat. I've lived with dogs and other cats, but I want to have people all to myself. I've been around a baby before, but I'm not sure how I would like toddlers or young children who would want to chase me or pick me up. I don't like to be picked up. So, what I'm trying to say is that I would like to a more quiet household where I would be the only pet.
I'm a dilute torti who's just over 5 1/2 years old. I'm spayed, current on all my vaccinations and I've tested negative for FIV and FeLV.
Look into my eyes. Do you feel a connection?

PAWS is a nonprofit organization incorporated in 1962 by Westport, Connecticut resident Betty Long to rescue homeless dogs and place them in permanent homes. In the early 1980s, our rescue efforts were expanded to include cats. PAWS rescues & rehomes approximately 115 dogs and 435 cats annually. Many of the dogs faced euthanasia at local pounds and most of the cats that we help are strays and abandoned cats that roam our streets. A portion of the pets that come to PAWS have been relinquished by their owners who are no longer able to care for them. PAWS has a handful of paid staff and a team of dedicated volunteers that help with everything to fundraising, to kennel work, to walking dogs and much, much more.
ADOPTION FEES: Effective July 1, 2008
The adoption fee helps us defray the cost of the animal's food, boarding and medical care. Any additional donation you would like to make above the adoption fee is greatly appreciated. Your contributions are tax deductible.
Cats & Kittens: $90
The feline adoption fees include age-appropriate vaccines and testing for Feline Aids and Feline Leukemia for kittens over 12 weeks of age (Please Note: No test is 100% accurate for these viruses). We spay/neuter all cats and kittens old enough for the procedures before they go home with you. We also offer low-cost options for spaying/neutering unaltered kittens when they are old enough to be altered.
Dogs & Puppies: $200
The canine adoption fees include age-appropritate vaccines and testing for heartworm. We spay/neuter all dogs and puppies old enough for the procedures before they go home with you. We also offer low-cost options for spaying/neutering unaltered puppies when they are old enough to be altered.
ADOPTION HOURS:
* We show pets for adoption during the week by appointment.
* We show CATS for adoption on Thursday evenings from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. No appointment is needed.
* We also have open house from 12 noon to 4:00 on Saturdays - no appointment needed.
We can be flexible if the listed adoption times do not work for you.
We encourage people to come in during the week if at all possible. Saturday is our busiest day & things get quite hectic. If you choose to come on a Saturday, please understand that the wait can be quite lengthy.
When coming to see pets, whether by appointment or during the open house, please expect to spend at least one hour at PAWS with the pets. It is important that you spend time with the pets in order to select a pet that is a good match for your family.
