I never liked cats. I was always a dog person.
Then when I was in college, three guys I knew (roommates) each brought a kitten home from the same litter. Who doesn't love kittens?
So these three kittens lived in a frat-house type setting, with constant drunk people handling them and girls cooing over them. Then they became cats. The boys didn't want cats. Plus their landlord caught them with pets, and said absolutely not.
So the boys solution was to put the cats outside to live. The cats had never had shots and were not being fed regularly. So my solution was to take them home with me and find them better homes.
It turns out my home was better :)
Then about 2 years later, a co-worker approached me because he knew I had cats, and he and his wife were having trouble with their cat.
Apparantly, their new cat had begun attacking the old cat, and they just didn't know what to do. They had to keep the separated and his wife had been badly scratched trying to do so.
Me, being the brain that I am said, "Oh, she attacks other cats? I'll take her."
Luckily my boys let her know that they would not be bullied, and they all now get along beautifully.
And that's how I became a cat person :)
